Vision, Values & Ethos
๐Our Christian Vision
‘By their fruits shall you know them.’ (Matthew 12:33)
At Blackfordby St Margaret’s CE Primary School, we nurture every child so that all develop a genuine love of learning and are wellโprepared for the next stage of their education. Our school vision emphasises our commitment to providing an ambitious education within a strong Christian framework.
We aim for every child to flourish and succeed — academically, personally and spiritually — knowing they are uniquely created and deeply valued.
We encourage children to understand the meaning and significance of faith and spirituality, and promote Christian values through the rich experiences we offer to all pupils and staff. We work closely with the Diocese of Leicester, the RISE Multi Academy Trust, and our parish church, St Margaret of Antioch, where we gather to worship for major Christian festivals.
Our school ethos is confidently and distinctively Christian.
๐ Our Christian Values
Our core Christian values shape our school community and guide how we learn, live and grow together.
Our values are:
- Patience
- Hope
- Perseverance
- Constancy
These values make a positive difference to our lives every day.
They help us:
- Strive to be the best we can be
- Build strong, caring relationships
- Grow spiritually
- Make wise choices
- Develop outstanding social and emotional skills
- Become compassionate, confident young people with a love of life and learning
๐ Our Ethos
We are proud to be a Church of England primary school.
Our Christian ethos underpins all aspects of school life:
- Teaching and learning are imaginative, engaging and purposeful
- We celebrate the uniqueness of every child
- Children feel safe, happy and supported
- We work in partnership with families, community and church
- Leaders model excellence and servantโhearted leadership
- Children grow in character, wisdom and compassion
By living out our vision and values, we help our children flourish as confident, thoughtful individuals ready to make a positive contribution to the world.
๐ Collective Worship
Collective Worship is an important and treasured part of our day at Blackfordby.
- We gather daily as a school community
- Worship provides space for reflection, stillness and prayer
- Themes are rooted in our Christian values
- Worship is inclusive, invitational and inspiring
- Children help plan, lead and evaluate worship
- We celebrate Christian festivals together at St Margaret of Antioch Church
We believe that Collective Worship is a special time — different from the rest of the school day — where we can reflect, celebrate and deepen our understanding of what it means to be part of a loving Christian community.

๐ Our School Prayers
Prayer plays a central role in the spiritual life of our school. Our prayers help us pause, reflect, give thanks and feel connected to one another and to God.

They:
- Support the school’s vision and values
- Help lead Collective Worship

Their dedication shows our values in action — especially patience, hope, perseverance, and constancy.
