School Council / Sports Ambassadors & Christian Ethos Team
Our School Council is made up of children from across the school who want to make Blackfordby an even better place to learn and play.
School Council

- Plan events and fundraising
- Work on projects that improve our school
Why It Matters
Being on the School Council helps children grow in confidence and leadership. It also shows how pupils have a real voice in shaping their school community.

Sports Ambassadors
Our Sports Ambassadors are role‑model pupils who help promote physical activity and sporting values across the school.
What Our Sports Ambassadors Do
- Support sporting events in and out of school
- Help run lunchtime activities and games
- Encourage younger children to join in and stay active
- Promote fair play, teamwork and healthy lifestyles
- Assist staff during PE events, festivals and competitions
These pupils help make lunchtimes active, inclusive and fun — and they play a key role in supporting our school’s sporting provision.
Christian Ethos Team
As a proud Church of England school, our Christian Ethos Team helps keep our school values alive throughout daily school life.
What Our Ethos Team Does
- Meets regularly to discuss how we can uphold and share our Christian values
- Joins virtual meetings with Ethos Teams from other RISE schools (via Teams)
- Helps plan and deliver parts of collective worship and assemblies
- Suggests fundraising ideas for charities and good causes
- Supports events that celebrate our Christian distinctiveness
The team helps ensure our vision — “By their fruits shall you know them” — is lived out in the day‑to‑day life of the school.
Why Pupil Voice Matters at Blackfordby
Through School Council, Sports Ambassadors and our Christian Ethos Team, children gain the chance to:
- Lead
- Make decisions
- Influence change
- Support others
- Contribute to school life
- Develop character, confidence and responsibility
These leadership opportunities support children’s personal development, wellbeing and readiness for the next stage of education — all areas highlighted as important in the Ofsted inspection framework.
