Parents' Information

The School Day

 

Before School

The school gates are open for children to enter between 8:40 a.m. and 8:50 a.m. Pupils arriving after this time should come through the school office. Parents are expected to collect their children from the school gate at 3:15 p.m.

 

Timetable:

  • 8:40 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. Teaching time

  • 10:45 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Playtime

  • 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon Teaching time

  • 12:00 noon – 1:00 p.m. Lunchtime

  • 1:00 p.m. – 3:15 p.m. Teaching time

Breakfast Club

Available Monday to Friday:

  • 7:45 a.m. – 8:45 a.m. (including breakfast): £2.50

  • 8:15 a.m. – 8:45 a.m. (including breakfast): £1.50

 

Morning Break

During morning break, children may have a snack of fruit provided by the school or one brought from home. Reception Class children also receive milk. Unless the weather is unsuitable, playtime takes place outside in the playground, supervised by two members of staff. Please ensure your child brings a clean water bottle to school daily.

 

Lunchtime

Our school meals are provided by Relish, the catering service for all schools in our trust.

 

Free School Meals Parents receiving Income Support or Income-based Job Seekers Allowance may apply for free school meals.

Attendance

School attendance is recorded in sessions (morning and afternoon) for each child. If you wish to take your child out of school for any reason beyond the scheduled school holidays, please collect and submit a holiday request form from the school office. Such requests are only considered under exceptional circumstances.

 

Reporting Absence

If your child is absent, please call the school on 01283 217702 by 10:00 a.m.

 

Unauthorised Absence

The Department for Education (DFE) requires schools to report unauthorised absences, including:

  • Truancy

  • Absence without a valid reason provided by letter or phone call

  • Holidays taken without authorisation

We ask parents to notify us if their child is unwell, has a medical appointment, or will be away for any reason.

School Uniform

 

We encourage children to wear the school uniform, which consists of:

  • Grey skirt, pinafore, or trousers

  • White polo shirt

  • Dark red Blackfordby cardigan or sweatshirt

  • Smart black leather shoes

  •  

Summer Uniform:

  • Boys may wear grey shorts

  • Girls may wear dark red checked or striped dresses

  •  

P.E. Uniform:

  • Burgundy shorts

  • White T-shirt (school-logo T-shirts are available)

  • Sports shoes or plimsolls (children may work in bare feet when appropriate)

Sweatshirts, cardigans, reversible winter coats, PE kits, bags, and rucksacks can be purchased from the school using the order form.
